Hi! My name is Irene, I’m a quilt pattern and fabric designer from The Netherlands.
Crafts and sewing have been in my life for as long as I can remember. My mom and both my grandmas taught me to crochet, knit and cross-stitch as a little girl. Even though my mom is an avid quilter, I did not pick up quilting until I was 26.
When I discovered the wide variety of modern, happy fabrics that were available in the world, I was sold. And then things moved pretty fast.
From pattern design as a side job, renting a studio giving workshops, starting my YouTube channel teaching online to becoming a Bernina ambassador and hosting multiple QALs (quilt alongs) with thousands of quilters from all over the world.
With quilt pattern design I can combine my love for mathematics with beautiful fabrics. Before I started Sugarioo, I worked as a mechanical engineer. My background in the field of Robotics was the inspiration for my very first fabric line “Robo Boogie”.
